This is the story of how George's Park
in Lozells, Birmigham, was saved from
vandalism and dereliction by a group of
remarkable people. Led by community
activist and community development worker
Fauzia Mumtaz, the women and children of
this community deserve proper recognition
for their involvement in revamping their
urban green space and bringing a sense of
order and cohesion to the whole area.
These warm-hearted and characterful
individuals have succeeded in galvanising
a community into action, for the good of
all. Here's how they did it.
