In
Bestwood Country Park on the outskirts of
Nottingham, the Sikh community are at the
forefront of a truly inspirational
project, to create a new area of
woodland: Khalsa Wood. The wood is being
planted and nurtured by volunteers who
see it as a way to express their
religious heritage in relation to the
environment. It is a place for the quiet
meditation and for big cultural
celebrations. The Sikh Community and
Youth Group, with help from Groundwork,
have established hundreds of young trees,
and enjoyed a lively programme of linked
activities.
