BEN is part of a new European funded All Wales Development
Partnership called "Curiad Calon Cymru". This partnership
is working with BME individuals and communities to promote
empowerment through activities addressing barriers to employment.
A Programme of work in Wales
BEN's work in Wales
ranges from practical and specific activity on the ground,
to input at policy and strategy level. Countryside Council
for Wales is a major supporter.
Bicycle Recycling.
According to gumtree.com the British throw away over 1.2 million
bicycles every year. A Swansea project is helping to reduce
this wastage by re-cycling the waste bikes. The Re-Cycle scheme
in Swansea takes in donations of unwanted bikes which are
refurbished, repaired and supplied cheaply to low waged people,
asylum seekers and refugees. For more information click

Development work
in South Wales. Working with the ethnic communities across
South Wales to support access to the natural environment,
in particular the Muslim community in Newport and other hard-to-reach
groups.
Swansea Recycling
Scheme. 2005-2007. BEN will shortly be recruiting again
for this full-time post which runs until December 2007. Working
within a European funded partnership, BEN is developing recycling
projects with the ethnic communities of Swansea, including
ethnic catering businesses.
GWLAD BEN Project,
2005-2007. Llanberis. In this European funded development
partnership, BEN is linking opportunities in the environmental
and heritage sectors for ethnic communities in North Wales
to informal learning.
Curiad Calon Cymru
BEN Project. This project will be promoting employment
in the environment and heritage sectors to ethnic communities,
exploring ways in North Wales to support individual households
as well as more evident ethnic communities, and in South Wales
developing training for providerr organisations.
