New Initiatives and Partnership Development

BEN works to make links with organisations working for sustainable development with the view of working in partnership and generating new initiatives.

In consultation for future partnership:

  • Youth Hostels Association - increase use of youth hostels by ethnic groups, in particular in the countryside.
  • One World Quilt - to work in partnership around One World Themes.
  • Centre for the Study of Environmental Change. Lancaster University - research projects on ethnic participation in the environment.
  • Platform - partnership for an environmental arts initiative to stimulate involvement by ethnic groups through a focus on environmental themes with cultural meanings.
  • Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation - to work together to involve ethnic groups in the work of Neighbourhood Initiatives Foundation .
  • Royal Botanic Gardens. Edinburgh - towards the involvement of ethnic groups at the Edinburgh and Benmore sites.
  • Association for Outdoor Learning - promotion of ethnic inclusion in outdoor learning

Partnerships in progress:

  • National Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens - Advisory Group for FCCFCG's Millennium Festival Project
  • Council for National Parks - partnership project re access by ethnic groups to National Parks. Funds being applied for
  • Trees of Time and Place Campaign TOTAP partner
  • Gateway Project - partnership re access by ethnic groups to historic gardens with the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust

Potential Partnerships subject to the outcomes of bids:

BEN is incorporated as a consultative partner in many current bids including:

  • SRBs- Groundwork London and Trees for London
  • NOF bids- Britain in Bloom , Environment Wales/WCVA/Princes Trust/Environment Agency, Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Countryside Agency, Scottish Community Foundation
